Deregulation provides a simpler, hassle-free alternative to previous methods of heating water to produce steam. However, some food companies still find cogeneration useful for their heat or steam needs. Deregulation is expected to lessen the attractiveness of cogeneration, but cogeneration will still be used by many food companies for a long time.
