From the supplier: Furniture designers Gustav and Leopold Stickley were considered as pioneers in furniture design in the US. Both designers utilized ideas from the English Art and Crafts Movement to develop the Craftsman furniture. Gustav subsequently developed the American Arts and Crafts Movement with the publication of 'The Craftsman' periodical. This movement highlighted the importance of structural design in hand-crafted pieces.
