From the supplier: Strategic engineering is proposed as a framework for industry analysis with particular focus on processes and value-added chains. This concept combines the principles of process management and those of strategic planning. Through internal analysis of an industry's operations, new strategic issues can be identified to better understand how companies and industries can function as a set of integrated value chains. The new framework is applied to the air transportation industry's five product segments, namely, airport, airlines, aircraft, maintenance and components, and the complex interrelationships among these segments are examined. Several strategic process issues and process-oriented issues at the corporate, business and function levels of strategy are discussed.
