From the supplier: Proposition 218 of Los Aneles County, CA, mandates that any new local tax will have to be decided by the vote of the people. The funding for the Los Angeles County Fire Dept was greatly affected by such proposition. The Fire Dept has demanded for a replacement tax whose passage will be subjected to the two-thirds voters approval. A direct mail absentee voter program was resorted to. The scheme encouraged the voters to vote absentee and are asked to cast a yes vote when contacted through a phone bank. The results yielded 77.3% total yes vote to keep their neighborhood fire open.
