The funding for the Los Angeles County Fire Dept was greatly affected by such proposition. The Fire Dept has demanded for a replacement tax whose passage will be subjected to the two-thirds voters approval. A direct mail absentee voter program was resorted to. The scheme encouraged the voters to vote absentee and are asked to cast a yes vote when contacted through a phone bank. The results yielded 77.3% total yes vote to keep their neighborhood fire open.
