From the supplier: The Zapatista rebels of Mexico organized the Second Intercontinental Meeting for Humanity and Against Neoliberalism on Jul 25-Aug 3, 1997. The Zapatistas were hoping that the event, dubbed Encuentro, would generate international interest and boost their call for unified efforts to fight global capitalism. Foreign delegates from labor unions and nongovernmental groups participated in the conference. Workshops were held on such topics as education, culture, politics and the economy. Based on the outcome of the event, the Zapatistas had achieved their primary goal.
