From the supplier: Most retail companies lack comprehensive security training programs to prevent losses resulting from theft. According to a survey, retailers train their loss prevention staff only during the early stage of employment orientation. Retail chains also tend to prioritize theft prevention over reactive strategies such as apprehension, defense and restraint. The study identified some weaknesses in the retailers' approach to loss prevention training including limited use of role playing and hands-on training methods.
