From the supplier: Economic profitability is a particularly important factor for lawyers when they decide which cases to accept, and cases which require much time and effort are profitable only if the recovery justifies the work. Overhead is not the only factor in evaluating the cost of taking on a case, and the value of the associate's and the staff's time is also important. The fixed costs of running an office and the cost of employee benefits must also be figured in. Cases must have the potential to settle for an amount that will justify the time lawyers and their staff spend.
