From the supplier: The development of 'mateship' in Australian culture is defined primarily by who it excludes rather than includes. Mateship, or the acknowledgement and granting of status between Caucasian Australian men, is based on the absence of women, indigenous and other non-Caucasian peoples, and individual heroes. Mateship, however, provides an egalitarian structure within its strictly limited context.
