From the supplier: A total of 164 respondents representing publicly held manufacturing firms in the country participated in a survey which examined small firms' usage of retrenchment during recession. Respondents were instructed to relate the overall impact of the recession on their firms. Results showed that over two-thirds of the firms in the study retrenched in the 1990-1991 recession. Majority of these firms relied on cost and asset reduction with little or no asset specificity.
