From the supplier: The 42% increase in sales of photovoltaic cells in 1997 proves the growing acceptance of solar power as an environmental-friendly alternative to fossil fuel. This shift is believed to be caused by the significant advances in solar power technology that allowed a variety of applications. These include its use to power portable highway signals, telecommunication repeater stations, consumer devices and water pumps. Moreover, solar cells have become affordable to the pubic after an 80% decrease in their prices.
