From the supplier: A time-series, cross-sectional sample of 4,212 industrial corporations was examined to determine the influence of single-parent captive insurers on the performance of managers. The findings showed that the volatility of free cash flow as well as corporate free cash flow have a positive effect on the probability of handling single-parent captive insurers. However, the probability of operating single-parent captive insurers is inversely proportional to the availability of investment opportunities.
