From the supplier: Aharon Appelfeld is one of the more prominent Jewish fiction writers of the Shoah or Holocaust literature. In contrast to other writers of Shoah literature, Appelfeld portrays the Holocaust as a mythical event. Although his works are inspired by his memories of the Holocaust, his characters almost always sever their ties to the past. While Appelfeld creates surreal short stories pertaining to the Israeli experience in the 1960s, he created superior novels in the 1970s. However, actual Shoah events were correlated in his fictional works in the 1990s.
