Worldwide PON Semiconductor 2005-2009 Forecast and Analysis
Book Details
Description
This IDC study primarily examines semiconductors shipping into passive optical network (PON) equipment markets including optical line terminal (OLT) systems, for central office and remote terminal installations, and optical networking termination (ONT) systems, also referred to as optical networking units (ONUs), for customer premise equipment (CPE) environments. A top-line forecast for application-specific semiconductor products is provided for 2005–2009.
"We believe increased availability of more integrated and lower-cost ASSPs and optical modules will help the PON market build more mainstream momentum. Service providers in Japan and the United States have already announced strong deployment plans and will be looked at closely over the next few years as examples of how higher revenue triple-play services will be delivered via fiber." — Sean Lavey, program manager, Semiconductors
