From the supplier: Rural electric cooperatives face a number of serious legislative challenges as it awaits the start of the 106th Congress. Among these are expensive yet ineffective environmental programs, the Year 2000 computer problem, long-range system financing, health and safety, and telecommunications. Cooperatives owe it to their members to address these issues. Fortunately, past and present leaders of the National Rural Electric Cooperative Assn, including Bob Partridge, Bob Bergland and Glenn English, have been guided by the same principles of good cooperative management. These principles are voluntary and open membership; democratic member control; member economic participation; cooperative autonomy and independence; education, training and information; cooperation among cooperatives; and concern for community.
