From the supplier: Travelers were surveyed to determine the behavior of passenger rail riders. Findings showed that customers of Amtrak have a holistic view of travel rather than being focused mainly on the in-transit experience. Using the primary characteristics which distinguish passenger rail riders from non-riders, a model was established to forecast Amtrak ridership. The model had a high degree of predictive ability, correctly categorizing more than 75% of the rider/non-rider decisions.
