From the supplier: A survey revealed that companies have no organized policies to deal with informal communication networks. Managers and organizations do not actively manage or control these networks, which are known informally as grapevines. Because rumors are spread through the grapevine and may damage the organization, managers must attempt to deal with this type of activity. If formal communication is not suffcient, grapevine activity will occur.
