From the supplier: Chief Justice William H. Rehnquist has appealed to Congress to refrain from creating federal laws that are redundant with existing state laws. In his annual message on the judiciary, Rehnquist reprimanded the lawmaking body for transforming every highly publicized crime into federal law. He reminded Congress that crime and law enforcement fall within the jurisdiction of the state governments. The call is in response to the escalating number of federal laws that have been added by Congress in the 1990s.
