From the supplier: Supercritical fluids (SCF) are used as alternatives to CFC as blowing agents for foam products and other polymer manufacturing processes. SCF's are generally inert and have no effects on the ozone layer. Researchers are studying the possibilities of SCF by trying to determine the melt viscosity of PS/supercritical fluid CO2 solution. A new technology was developed for this purpose using a linear capillary tube die mounted on a foaming extruder.
