From the supplier: One of the more substantial economic factors that hurts environmental causes is the tax structure that allows corporate polluters to avoid financial responsibility. Tax breaks for petroleum, gas and mining industries encourage projects, exploration development, and other destructive natural resource exploitation activities difficult to counter. Even the tax deduction for mortgage interest on second or vacation homes enables encroachment in environmentally sensitive areas. What is needed is a new tax policy that will take away less from personal income and impose greater penalties on corporations that abuse environmental resources.
