From the supplier: The PACER (Progressive Aerobic Cardiovascular Endurance Run) and the 1-Mile Run/Walk (MRW) are two components of the fitness test battery for children and youth called FITNESSGRAM designed to test aerobic fitness. Results from experiments comparing the reliability and validity of PACER as well as the end heart rate values of PACER and MRW show a moderate to good correlation. This reasonably high correlation between the two tests indicates that either could be used as a measure of aerobic fitness in children.
