From the supplier: Columbia University sponsored in May 1998 a day-long conference, "Reassessing '68 in New York and Paris: Activism, Architecture, and the Academy," which reviewed the relationship between student activism and architecture. Students overtook buildings at Columbia University in a 1968 protest, which was, in part, related to plans to build university structures in urban neighborhoods. Similar events occurred in Paris. The conference was an exercise in liberal nostalgia.
