Japan Carrier Solutions/Managed Services 2005-2009 Forecast

This IDC study analyzes the current situation, characteristics, and future direction of solutions/managed services provided by communications carriers based on information obtained from interviews with leading carriers. The study provides a market analysis by service category and forecasts the size of the solutions/managed services market between 2004 and 2009.

IDC Japan's communications group research manager, Toshihiro Mishima, says, "Solutions/managed services provided by carriers are required to further expand in scope as companies' communications network systems become more sophisticated and complicated. There has been a drastic increase in "last-minute demand" for security consulting ahead of the enactment of the Personal Data Protection Act. As the corporate preference of outsourcing increases, managed features such as Internet datacenter (iDC) facilities are making clear their position as the core competence area of communications carriers. Carriers should, therefore, further improve their core network solutions and promote the delivery of solutions/managed services in higher levels while keeping an eye on competing IT and systems integration (SI) vendors. The business environment for this purpose is being prepared as well."
