Culloden

Fought on April 16, 1746, the Battle of Culloden was the last battle on British soil; it ended the House of Stuart's hopes of regaining the throne. It has all the elements of romantic fiction, all the appeal of a lost cause. It has a hero; young, dashing, handsome Prince Charles Edward Stuart, the "Bonnie Prince Charlie" of song and story; and a villain, the brutal Duke of Cumberland.
