Virgin Soil Upturned

"Virgin Soil" is the author's second major work and was originally published in Russia 1932 as "Podnyataya Tselina". It centers on the great remolding of Russian life that followed the Revolution - the collectivization of agriculture. Mikhail Sholokhov (1905-1984), won the Nobel Prize for Literature; his "And Quiet Flows The Don" Multi-Volume novel considered by many scholars and critics alike as the ultimate post-revolutionary literary work to have been produced in the old Soviet Union.
