According to Paolo Pescatore, research manager for IDC's European Wireless and Mobile Communications service, "Competition in the market is intensifying, due to the large presence of MVNOs and service providers, but there has been some consolidation. TeliaSonera has increased its presence in the market through the acquisition of Chess/Sense. Both Telenor and NetCom have launched 3G services. Hi3G has yet to launch services and it is unclear whether it will do so given the slow uptake of 3G in Norway."
