China Wireless Local Loop Services 2005-2010 Forecast and Analysis

This IDC study gives an overview of the wireless local loop services market in China. This report will look into the historical trends and future opportunity of these services in view of potential fixed mobile services launched in China as well as continued popularity of cellular services in the world's largest mobile subscriber market.

"Despite the fact that both WLL operators in China, China Telecom and China Netcom, are expected to be rewarded with 3G licenses by the MII in 2006, IDC still sees plenty of potential in their WLL services in the coming five years. WLL appeals to a different market segment than mobile services and the advent of 3G services in China will not change that fact over the next few years. As services and dual-mode handsets evolve however, both WLL operators may find themselves in a good position to migrate their WLL subscribers onto more lucrative 3G services", says Claus Mortensen, research manager, Telecommunications Research, IDC Asia/Pacific.
