Defcon 4, Issue #3 (May, 1996)

The Patron has sent four assassins back through time to prevent his past self from creating the technology that he now feels has ruined the future. Unfortunately for his plans, the assassins choose to complete their mission by killing him. The four assassins have not been transported through time physically but in essence, into bodies chosen to match their abilities. Well written and drawn by Matt Broome and Jeff Mariotte, this is a fast-paced science-fiction story that creates an intriguing situation but spends too much time on fight scenes instead of exploring either the Patron's future or his present. Intended to be ongoing, the first part ends with the assassins free but having to regroup after failing in their first attempt to kill the Patron.
