From the author: This paper studies the energy conservation performance of a plate enthalpy exchanger with a kind of paper medium for different outdoor climates in China. According to the calculation of the air treatment process on a psychrometric chart, it is found that the energy-saving performance of the enthalpy exchanger depends on its enthalpy recovery efficiency and its resistance to the airflow. The amount of the saved electrical power is determined by the climate condition, the effectiveness of the enthalpy exchange, and the coefficient of performance (COP) of the chillers and the fan power. Each factor is discussed, respectively.
