Persian 70 Units, Vol. 1: Farsi, Haftad Vahid

This experimental text is based on observations made while teaching Persian at the University of Michigan and for the American Peace Corps. It includes a number of assumptions regarding language acquisition as well as many suggestions by experienced teachers of Persian and Arabic. This volume consists of twenty main units, nineteen sub-units, an appendix, and a glossary (Persian-English/English-Persian). Each main unit is made up of the following sections: the explanation of a single, simple grammatical point, vocabulary for dialogs or basis sentences, dialogs or basic sentences themselves, drills, and toward the end of the volume, some sections called "dialog preparation," which are not intended to be learned or performed, but simply as models to be imitated. The sub-units deal with phonolgoy and the orthography of the language, written in such as way that they can be used as independent units along with the main units or learned as whole units dealing with a certain topic. The appendix summarizes and adds additional information to what has already been said in the main units.
