Amber's War

Amber is a middle school soccer player with a pet pig, a sense of humor and big dreams: She's going to be on the US Olympic soccer team.

Her dreams turn into a nightmare when she is diagnosed with cancer. Although the doctors are optimistic about saving her life, she will never play professional soccer. She may lose her leg. She steels herself for the medical battle, but is blindsided by the changes in her relationships.

Her best friend and "almost-twin" is terrified of cancer and shuns her. Although Amber's fellow soccer players stand by her, Amber is shattered by the betrayal. Her older brother stands by his sister, but her kid brother resents the attention Amber is getting. Amber needs an unlikely army to help her win her "war" against the disease.
