Second Annual Software Appliance End-User Survey: Users Warm Up to Software Appliances
Description
This IDC study presents the results of IDC second-annual study of end-user awareness of and adoption of software appliance products. The study covers 300+ end-user organizations in the United States and captures data that analyzes the deployment intentions and the perceived pros and cons for software appliances in their organizations.
"This second annual software appliance end-user survey is showing measurable movement in terms of awareness and an acceleration of adoption for software appliances," said Brett Waldman, research analyst, System Software. "This study data found, for instance, that users citing good familiarity with software appliances jumped from 12% to 25% of the sample in a one-year period. We believe this is an indicator that the industry should take seriously, since software appliances are well positioned to ride the wave of virtualization today, and cloud computing tomorrow."
