📖 Description
El Salvador’s fixed-line teledensity and mobile phone penetration are remarkably high compared with the country’s other economic indicators. Several companies offer fixed-line services, and five operators compete in the mobile market. The incumbent CTE Telecom has a virtual monopoly over ADSL access, but the country’s leading cable TV company, Amnet, offers a triple play service combining telephony, cable broadband, and pay TV. In October 2008, Amnet came under the umbrella of Millicom International, which also owns El Salvador’s mobile telephony leader Tigo. This report provides an overview of the country’s telecom sector accompanied by relevant statistics, and brief profiles of the main operators.
