An excellent, if tragic, look inside the infamous Andersonville prison, where thousands of Yankee prisoners were help captive in deplorable conditions during the Civil War. In what was once known as Fort Sumter, prisoners endured heat, hunger, disease, 4' X 6' sleeping areas, and sometimes even violence from a prison gang known as the Raiders, as well as other barbaric conditions. Because this rare book was converted from yellowed manuscript to digital text, no photos are included.
