Description
Scott Flint began his training in martial arts at age 13: he started teaching self-defense classes at West Wind Kung-Fu Schools in 1978 and has continued to teach there ever since. In 1987 he participated as part of the United States demonstration team at the World Kung-Fu Championships held in the Republic of China. That year the United Stated team led by West Wind School's founder Ron Lee became the first overseas team to win the World Championship. In 1984 Mr. Flint was honored to lead the West Wind Alameda School as their head instructor. He and his A-team won the North American Bok-Fu Championship seven years in a row. Scott was very fortunate to have been picked as one of Mr, Lee's personal students. With his guidance over the last quarter century Mr Flint has been able to develop many exceptional black belts. He is most proud of his top students, Mr. Chris Thompson, West Wind's Chief Instructor, and Mr. Jack Morris, Mr. Flint's first Black Belt student. In 1990 Scott's father, Grant, an accomplished author, gave him the idea of committing his self defense teaching to book form. This work is the result. Scott lives in the East Bay with his wife Angie, daughter Katrina, and son Jared. Mr. Flint's favorite things to do when he isn't teaching is spending time with his family and practicing the martial arts. --- from book's back cover
