Uhuru

Uhuru, a word meaning and a novel about freedom, and its promises, fallacies and follies, written by Robert Ruark is an interesting read. Although controversial and sometimes complex, the book looks at the essential essence of freedom - responsibility and accountability. It also explores democracy as a philosophy and as mob rule. The book and its companion, Something of Value, are worth wading through. Set in Kenya, the books offer potent insight into the Mau Mau rebellion and today's 'terrorism'.
