Pointed criticism of Protestant Evangelical America is not without warrant. It is a Church that has squandered great resources, capitulated to its culture, reenforced sheer moralism, encouraged self-help techniques, privatized spirituality, glamorized fleeting personalities, incited emotional sensationalism, revered a personal and experiential approach to Jesus, and sacrificed the offense of the Gospel for the mind-numbing sweetness of tolerant marketing.
