Along with a historical overview and appreciation of papermaking spanning 3000 years, this manual provides complete instructions and personal guidance for the interested papermaker, new and experienced, young and old, into the world of papermaking by hand. Paper is at once a medium for communication, learning, artistic expression, packaging, construction and hygiene!
Suggestions are made for ideas in creating artistic papers, and decorative touches, such as dyed pulp, watermarking and marbling techniques for finished papers. Basic technology is covered in detail, allowing the student to make a near-perfect sheet right away.
