The Japan messaging security market continues to expand amid the rising demand for solutions to counter the ever-increasing spam mail and Web security risks. While the implementation of messaging security solutions currently involves on-premises deployment of software and appliances as well as the use of hosting services, IDC believes that the implementation of shared services as SaaS/cloud will increase in the future. "The implementation of SaaS/cloud services is increasing in the messaging security market. Users are becoming more aware of the advantages of using systems without owning them, and the increased cases of systems integration following frequent corporate mergers in recent years is driving the trend," says Hideki Hanaoka, research manager, Security, IDC Japan.
