Description
This booklet discusses consciousness from the point of view of both philosophy and science. It tries to show that the two branches of knowledge are not necessarily divergent. Consciousness is energy – the primordial energy from which the universe springs forth and at the end goes back into it. This is an inevitable consequence of the equivalence of matter and energy. Consciousness is absolute and therefore cannot be defined or investigated. We normally associate it only with living beings (organisms) but it is all pervasive and therefore in everything, animate or inanimate. Mind is an attribute of consciousness and its presence separates the animate from inanimate. Intelligence in turn is an attribute of the mind. It is partly genetic but also develops with the mind. There is perhaps an erroneous conception that man being at the highest stage of evolution has the highest intelligence. There are also animals with intelligence that is mind boggling to humans.
