Description
The album features gold artefacts of ancient workmanship found in Kazakhstan. Among them are true masterpieces of world importance: stag and eagle-shaped buckles from the Chilikty Kurgan, bracelets from the Tuzdak Valley, jewellery found near Lake Borovoye, a torque from the Kara-Agach Valley. Of no less artistic significance are the objects from the Issyk Kurgan: the diadem and the temple pendants from Aktasty. The earliest of the artefacts date back to the Bronze Age. The most fully represented is the art of Scytho-Siberian, encrustation and polychrome styles. The remains of the art of late nomads close the album. Most of the jewellery presented was discovered by K. Akishev, a well-known archaeologist from Kazakhstan, who compiled the album and wrote the introductory article. He is the author of the books "Ancient Culture of the Saks and Ussuns of the Ili River Valley", "Ancient Otrar", and "The Issyk Kurgan".
