Description
Dr. Wilhelm Heinrich Schüßler (1821 - 1898), a physician from Oldenburg, published a book in 1873 called „Eine abgekürzte Therapie“ (an abridged therapy). In this small tome of 100 pages, he proposed that homoeopathy, a therapeutic concept created almost a century earlier by Samuel Hahnemann, could be restricted to homoeopathic dilutions of the salts coursing within one's body. Schüßler claimed that most illnesses derived from a dysbalance of these salts and could be cured by taking „potentiated“ (energized) dilutions of them. Schüßler cited scientific studies of Jacob Moleschott and Justus von Liebig who had found that there was a connection between the content of minerals in corpses and the cause of death. Their conclusion was that minerals are at the core of human life, the „fuel“ determining the functioning of the body's cells.
