A Brief History of the Evolution of Tattoos

Tattoos have long been a part of human cultures. From ancient Egypt to contemporary New York, tattoos have served a variety of purposes in their cultures ranging from the marking of criminals to the identification of warriors, from serving medicinal purposes to identifying the bearer as a member of a sub-culture. Through the centuries tattoos have evolved from 'primitive' signs to an art practiced upon the living flesh of people.
