Customer Perceptions on the Impact of Cloud Computing on Support

This IDC study examines the results of the Datacenter Support Technology Survey, which was conducted in the fourth quarter of 2009 to investigate how companies are utilizing and supporting cloud computing. As cloud computing continues to gain traction with organizations, there will be increased questions surrounding how to integrate ongoing support services for traditional on-premises computing with the new cloud applications. Further, many organizations are considering how to support cloud applications in their decision to migrate to cloud computing.

"In the near term, organizations are going to face challenges associated with integrating support for traditional on-premises and cloud applications," said Matt Healey, research manager for IDC's Software and Hardware Support Services Program.
