Worldreader.org iREAD Concept Note (Kindle Edition)

Worldreader.org is a non-profit organization whose mission is to make books available to all people in developing countries using e-reader technology.

Specifically, beginning in October 2010, 280 students in two Junior High Schools and 2 Senior High School outside Accra will receive electronic readers loaded with a mix of 200 free, local, and international books—a total of 56,000 books for Ghanaian children. Worldreader.org and its partners will evaluate the impact of these e-readers along two primary dimensions throughout the school year: do the students with the e-readers read more than the control groups, and does their level of reading increase at a level consistent with that of the control group.
