Conventional wisdom hold that child soldiers come from destitute homes, are victimized by adults who corrupt them with money and drugs and force them to be their cannon fodder. Of Kings And Bandits offers a that different story: to resist injustice, children dream of growing up just to raise arms.

Jemal is an ordinary child growing up in a middle class family in East Africa. As his hometown is transformed into a garrison, and indignity and violence become the order of the day, Jemal wrestles with two options: passive acceptance of the situation or active resistance to reverse it.

Of Kings And Bandits recounts the historical, cultural, and religious aspects of a war-torn society from the perspective of a young boy. It is a story of how the violence and cruelty of war strips children of their innocence and forces them to carry the burdens of adulthood prematurely.
