Modern Russian 1: Workbook

This Workbook provides written exercises to supplement the oral ones in Modern Russian 1. The types of exercises vary and cover all sections of the individual lessons except those involving pronunciation and into nation. Included are questions on the conversations, supplements, and reading passages; paraphrases of conversations, and substitution drills based on the conversations or supplements. Also included are many types of written exercises based on the grammar presented in the Structure and Drills sections of the text. Although most of the exercises in the Workbook are arranged to follow the sequence of presentation in Modern Russian 1, there is one important exception to this pattern. A conversation paraphrase exercise is placed toward the end of the set of exercises for each lesson in recognition of its difficulty as an English-to-Russian translation task. In addition to their use as exercises for written homework, many of these exercises are also suitable for oral use in the classroom.
