Worldwide Embedded DBMS 2010-2014 Forecast and 2009 Vendor Shares

This IDC study presents revenue for the embedded database management system (DBMS) software market by vendor, geographic region, and operating environment from 2007 to 2009 and includes a forecast for the 2010–2014 period. It also includes analysis of the market and profiles of some key vendors.

"Data management is in a state of flux, opening up a range of opportunities for those willing and able to take advantage of it," says Carl Olofson, research vice president for Database Management and Data Integration Software Research at IDC. "There are two countervailing trends in enterprise IT that affect the embedded DBMS market. One is toward cloud computing, which includes so-called private cloud deployments of virtualized utility computing environments in grids. The other is that of self-contained, modular 'black box' solutions, which include both conventional software distributions and appliances."
