This IDC study (a translation of the Japanese report IDC #J10200103) analyzes the sales channel trends in the Japan client PC market in 2009. Besides discussing the current market situation, we also analyzed the strategies that vendors should adopt in the future. This study covers client desktop and portable PCs.
"Japan enterprise users are highly satisfied with high system maintenance charges, which are part of running costs. However, rather than having fixed system maintenance charges, IDC believes it is necessary for vendors to switch to a build-to-order (BTO) system that allows users to pick the service components they require, including maintenance," says Hirotoshi Asano, senior market analyst, PC, Mobile, and Client Solution Research, IDC Japan.
