GWEILO

The theft of a birthright has been the motive for murder since Jacob usurped it from his elder brother Esau. The loss of the birthright to the immense riches of Hong Kong leads to aplot by two men, one Chinese and the other a 'gweilo' - a descendant of the first settlers to arrive in Hong Kong. The catastrophic meltdown of the Chernobyl nuclear power station provides the solution - the destruction of hong Kong rather than hand it back to China. Fluent in both Cantonese and Mandarin Chinese, John Gunn is recruited for this assignment by the British Intelligence Directorate. But the countdown to the nuclear holocaust has already begun.
