DREAM PRIMER FOR CHRISTIANS: Ten Points to Ponder

This brief booklet gives basic information about the dream process from a Christian perspective and is designed for persons who have not done extensive dreamwork in individual or group therapy. Topics discussed include symbolism, nightmares, the demonic and the use of prayer. Suggestions are given to help one understand how to interpret his or her dreams. A selected bibliography for further study includes Morton T. Kelsey's God, Dreams and Revelation: A Christian Interpretation (1974) as well as Drake's Journey Within: A Healing Playbook (2005).

About the Author

Licensed Clinical Social Worker (retired) Jeannette Drake is a poet and visual artist who has done extensive personal dreamwork. As psychotherapist, counselor, teacher, writer and/ or artist, she has worked with children, adolescents and adults in diverse settings, including schools, universities, libraries, hospitals, churches, shelters, prisons, museums, art galleries and assisted living facilities. Her poems, fiction, essays and letters have been published in a variety of journals, magazines and newspapers. She has received awards and fellowships from the Virginia Commission for the Arts, the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts, the Hurston/Wright Foundation and the Leonard E.B. Andrews Foundation (visual art). She has been a street minister, performed as a gospel soloist and actress. Today, she remains a wise woman, peaceful servant of God, lover of silence and the contemplative life.
